Aluminum Association Congratulates USTR Nominee Katherine Tai

Following President-elect Joe Biden’s announcement today nominating Katherine Tai as the United States Trade Representative, Aluminum Association president & CEO Tom Dobbins released the following statement:

“The U.S. aluminum industry warmly congratulates Katherine Tai on her nomination to serve as United States Trade Representative. Katherine has demonstrated experience finding solutions to fit the needs of a variety of stakeholders, and in striking the right balance between enforcing trade rules and creating market opportunity. Notably, she will bring to this new role her experience in confronting China’s unfair trade practices. Manufacturers across the U.S. aluminum industry value chain have already worked with Katherine and her team as a lead trade staffer on the House Ways & Means Committee. We appreciate the care she has taken to understand both the challenges facing domestic aluminum producers but also the opportunities for growth. We look forward to working with Katherine to defend the ability of the domestic aluminum industry to compete on a fair and level playing field.”
